If you've been in a car accident, you know how stressful and inconvenient it can be, especially if you're trying to prove that the incident is not your fault. Fortunately, there is something that can help you avoid such an unfortunate scenario: the dash camera. Dash cams are not just for capturing your road trips to idyllic places. They can also be quite handy for identifying the people responsible for road accidents, just like what happened recently in New South Wales.
Van Driver Busted, Thanks to Dash Cam
Adam Walker of Terrigal, NSW was driving down the road when his dash cam caught something shocking. In the video, cars were seen driving through an intersection on a green light. However, a van on the opposite side of the road suddenly attempted to squeeze through the oncoming traffic to avoid being stopped by the red light.
While it looked like it didn't hit the small car to its right, it appeared that the van did strike its rear. Then, the van was hit by a Hilux after it drove straight into its path.
Fortunately, Mr. Walker wasn't involved in the accident because he had the presence of mind not to follow closely the vehicle in front of him. According to him, his friend who was travelling with him had warned him about the van, which he couldn't see behind the Hilux.
He said all the drivers pulled over after the crash. He pointed out that it was the fault of the van's driver that all of them were forced to suffer such an inconvenience. "We were all stopped at the red light including the van opposite and we got a green. Nowhere the van is it would have changed green to go straight not turn but he got it wrong and pulled out on us all," he said.
Mr Walker submitted the footage he got from his car dash camera to the Facebook page of Dash Cam Owners Australia, a group that compiles amazing and shocking videos caught by dash cams across the country. These videos are often featured on various news sites such as Gizmodo.
Even if you are a careful driver, accidents are sometimes unavoidable because of other drivers who have no regard for other people's safety. This is why it certainly helps to have a dash camera in your vehicle. With this nifty device, you can prove to everyone who is at fault during an accident, as in the case of Mr Walker.
