Installing built-in rear view camera is slowly becoming the norm for many car manufacturers these days and it seemed that another car maker has joined the bandwagon. According to reports, Germany-based Volkswagen is the latest car manufacturing company to add reversing cameras to most of its range. Starting in August, most of Volkswagen’s product offerings in Australia will come with a built-in camera system, including the Polo hatchback, the cheapest model in VW’s line-up.
New VW cars, excluding the Caddy and Transporter vans, will be fitted with a larger 6.5-inch high resolution touchscreen to go with the reversing camera, company officials revealed. But for those who are safety-conscious and are fans of Volkswagen cars, there’s a little problem with the car maker’s latest announcement. When the new updated cars hit Australia’s market, the most affordable models will have a price increase of up to $2,150. Reports said this is to pay for the new technologies, which include Apple CarPlay, Mirrorlink, and Android apps, fitted in the car.
If you’re a fan of Volkswagen cars, you don’t have to buy a new car and trouble yourself with the $2,150 price increase if a car reversing camera is all you’re after. Today, there are a wide range of aftermarket camera systems you can purchase for a much lower price. They are good as, or sometimes even better, than the ones pre-installed in new car models.
Reason No 1: They are much cheaper. As compared to those installed in new car models, like those offered by Volkswagen, aftermarket camera systems are significantly more cost-effective. They are sold at a much lower price. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars just to have a much safer car.
Reason No 2: It is more convenient. What is easier, buying a reverse camera system or purchasing a new car? Well, if you’re going to ask people, most of them will probably tell you that the former is much easier and more convenient than the latter, especially if you’re going to shop online. With a new car, on the other hand, there are a lot of things you have to take care of, like car registration.
Reason No 3: You have choices. With a built-in camera, you have no say on what type of reversing camera you’ll get for your car. But if you purchase an aftermarket device, you have the freedom to choose. You can determine for yourself which camera type is the most suited for the kind of vehicle that you drive.
If you’re looking for a new reversing camera monitor kit, you should visit Elinz Electronics. We offer reliable and dependable camera systems for all types of cars at very affordable prices.
