If you love hiking, then I guess we can both agree that the view at the top of the mountain will always be breathtaking, right? That 360° view and cold breeze touching your face is worth every struggle and climb. And no matter how sore your body is the next day, you will do it all over again to experience that thrill and see that spectacular view again.
Another thing that makes the hike more memorable are the people we are with and the people we meet along the way. The alpha hiker, the photographer, the foodie, and more. However, did you ever wonder what type of hiker you are?
If you’re not sure yet, stick around to find out more about the types of hiker and find out which type of hiker you are
1. The Day Hiker
Are you the type of hiker who’s up even before sunrise? Yup, we are talking to you really early birds! You’re the type who plans to see the sea of clouds before it disappears into the sky out of your reach, feel the cold breeze before the sun decides to say hi and hurt your eyes, and the type to get things done before the sunsets. And we can’t blame you! There’s something about getting up really early in the morning and just walking and climbing through the mountain as the sun slowly lights up the place. It’s a majestic feeling!
2. The Overnight Hiker
These are the type of people who love to camp and hike then decide to put it together in one activity. Overnight hikers enjoy the comforts of nature so much. They love the idea of spending the night with friends around a campfire and with a lot of stars above them to cap the day off. The morning after will hit differently, the nature’s breeze will definitely give you a different feeling. And when it’s time to hike you just have to pack up your tents and you’re all set to explore the mountain and reach the peak.
3.The Alpha Hiker
Alpha hikers are the ones who usually plan the whole thing. Every group has this, and without them there probably wouldn’t be any hike trips, to begin with! So here’s a reminder to thank the alpha hiker in your group and maybe set a new plan to hike this weekend. It’s because of you guys that the trip was even planned in the first place, and it’s because of you that it pushed through! So, big thanks to all the Alpha Hikers out there.
4. The Always Prepared Hiker
Did you ever need an extra bottle of water, candy ‘cause you’re nauseous, or even a band-aid ‘cause you accidentally bruised your knee? Don’t you worry! The “Always Prepared Hikers'' are there to save you. These are the hikers who literally have all the essentials that you need (that you forgot or didn’t bring). Just ask if they have this or that and you’ll be amazed at what their backpack can store.
5. The Chill Hiker
I’ve been to a couple of hikes and I just can’t put my mind into how these hikers manage to have a sane hike trip. Chill hikers just bring what they need. Nothing more, nothing less. They don’t have thoughts like “I’ll bring this extra shirt ‘cause I might need it.” Nope. They don’t work that way. They bring the exact amount of things all the time. It amazes me and wishes that I could be this chill.
6. The Photographer Hiker
These are the perfect hikers to be with if you plan to get that ig-worthy post. Photographer hikers are those who just know how to get the right angle of the mountain that shows its features best, the right shot and pose for the group, and the one who captures the most amazing moment of the whole hike. However, there are some who aren’t really the best photographers, but they always manage to capture all the laughs and unforgettable moments on the trail.
7. The Nature Lover
Ever met or been with a hiker that when they see a bird they’ll be like “Oh! That’s a Crimson Rosella.” or “Hey, did you know that Satin Bowerbird’s adult male has a striking glossy blue-black plumage, a pale bluish-white bill, and a violet-blue iris?”. They fall under this category. It’s fun having them around and hearing those facts once in a while instead of just you and your friend’s breathing. And frankly, thanks to them you’ll be going home with not just a sore body, but a couple of facts about nature as well.
8. The Fur Parent Hiker
These are the cutest out of all the hikers! Their fur buddies! The fur parent hikers are those who decided to bring their dogs with them along the hike. You just bump into them casually walking the trail with their best bud like it’s the most normal thing to do with your pet. And as much as you want to bring your pet dog with you, you just know that cute little cotton ball wouldn’t like it. So, you just say hi or take a picture with these hikers and their pets. (Note that these hikers are those who really trained their pets and that they wouldn’t bring them if their pet can’t.)
9. The Foodie
Are you the type of hiker who munches trail mix the whole time while hiking? The type to always offer something to eat? The type to pack an extra set of food just so if someone’s hungry then they’ll have something more to eat? A friend running low on energy and you’re the first person to grab their bag and reach out to give your friend an energy snack bar? If all that’s a yes, then I guess you’re a foodie hiker! And we can’t thank you enough for all the times that you saved our hungry stomachs. Keep it up Foodie Hikers!
10. The Whiner
No matter how much we love our friends, there will always be a “whiner” in the group. Question is, are you that one? Whiner hikers are those who complain for the whole time during the hike. The moment you start the trail up until the moment that you went down the trail you can just hear them whining. They do it effortlessly, it’s like their way of breathing. And it’s not that they don’t want to be there, that’s just the way they are.
So, did you find out what type of hiker you are? Are you a group-favorite hiker like The Foodie or The Always Prepared Hiker? Or are you The Whiner?
Whatever type of hiker that you are, it's best that you are always prepared with high-quality camping gear for a safer and more memorable hike. Always be prepared and know what is happening around you with headlights or flashlights that can light up the area or maybe LED Light Bar Strips to light up your campsite at night. You can also look for reliable power banks to make sure that all your gadgets will always have power during emergency situations. Lastly, even if you’re not a Photographer Hiker, you definitely need something that can capture all the fun and struggle of the whole team during the hike. And the best way to do this is by bringing an HD action camera along with you.
