“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
We will remember them.” - Laurence Binyon
Tomorrow is ANZAC day, and we’ll be celebrating the brave soldiers, both from Australia and our allies that have bravely fought and given their lives to protect our lives and our freedoms from the iniquities of war.
Originating from the aftermath of major conflicts such as World War I, we celebrate the braveness of the men that have given their all and made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live in freedom and happiness.
Though lost as casualties to war, we celebrate ANZAC to remember them forever and recognize their sacrifice, and to show that they will never be forgotten to the ages.
We here at Elinz celebrate the efforts of these brave men and women, and we urge you to do the same by greeting the dawn in commemoration of their sacrifice. Due to the events that are transpiring these days and to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, parades and other gathering in celebration of ANZAC will sadly have to be put on hold for this year.
So what can we do to celebrate ANZAC day without risking ourselves to the coronavirus? Here are some ideas out there that will help you celebrate this special day.
Watch commemorative services available across most national television networks tomorrow. There will be plenty of broadcasts that you can catch on networks like ABC. Make sure to wake up early though- most services will start on the tick at either 5:30 or 6:00, depending on your location.
Greet the dawn from your driveway or balcony. Wherever you are in the country, greeting the dawn is a standard practice for celebrating ANZAC day. Get up at 5:30 AM and stand in spirit with the rest of us, either in your balcony or your driveway.
Make sure to maintain social distancing while doing so, and have a television, radio or a mobile device with the broadcast on.
Observe the program from your mobile device or radio/TV. Usually the ceremony to remember our fallen and wounded during ANZAC day will start with a bugle call (in tradition with , then followed by a minute of silence in solemn remembrance.
The minute of silence will then be ended by another bugle call.
Since there will be no parades, gatherings or celebrations this ANZAC day, stay at home and stay tuned to programs that will air over TV & radio- there are sure to be broadcasts for the remembrance of our fallen and wounded veterans.
Stay safe and have a great ANZAC day tomorrow.
