Just this Saturday, 49 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by the local government, one of the highest case spikes we’ve seen since April.
While restrictions are staying lifted, we urge everyone to stay vigilant and extremely cautious during these trying times. Like we’ve mentioned so many times since March in our blog entries, if you can stay at home, then you must stay at home by all means.
Now if you’re like us and you’ll be limiting your time outdoors or out of contact with other people outside of your immediate household, here are some tips that we highly recommend to keep you safe without severely hampering your life or your day to day activities.
Connectivity
It’s important to stay connected these days. And we don’t mean just for work - we think that it’s extremely important that you’re connecting with other people in your life, such as friends and family throughout these unprecedented times.
The ease in restrictions allows us to visit people and have small gatherings but if you’d rather not risk it at all (especially if your loved ones are part of the highest at risk for COVID-19), you’re going to have to try and connect through different means.
Over the past few months, people have been connecting via Zoom, Skype and other video-call applications, and if you’d like to keep your loved ones (and yourself) safe, then it would be best to continue having these calls instead of going physically to other places just to meet your friends and family.
Again - if you can stay at home, then you must stay home.
If your laptop’s camera isn’t quite cutting it when you go on Zoom calls or if you don’t have a webcam yet and you’d like to have a hands-free solution for a camera that you can just connect to your computer, then a webcam might just be what you’re looking for.
And they don’t have to be that expensive, contrary to popular belief. If you’re looking for 1080P and 720 P variants, we’ve got them right here at Elinz at the best prices possible compared to most brands.
The video clarity should be much better than some stock webcams, giving amazing clarity to your Zoom calls, whether it be for work or leisure.
Your Diet (or lack thereof)
Even if we’re all indoors, it’s important to keep your food healthy and safe to eat. Exercise is hard to do these days due to the lack of equipment (or motivation), and that’s fine - we’re all in the middle of a pandemic after all and you might not have the energy to expend physically.
If you can exercise, do so. But what’s more important these days is taking care of your nutrition.
Proper nutrition helps keep you centered during these massively worrying times. It strengthens the immune system, has a positive psychological effect, and most importantly it provides excellent energy throughout the day.
With the coronavirus having more adverse effects on those that have weaker immune systems and those of higher age
It’s tempting to just grab a bag of chips or go for a fast-food run, but it’s better to actually plan your meals out and eat more whole foods.
But the issue with whole foods is that they’re perishable - they spoil easily if left alone, and refrigerating them for extended periods of time tends to lessen their taste and value. Meat gets freezer burn, vegetables just wilt even in the fridge, and some of them still spoil even when refrigerated.
So how do you keep eating healthy?
On your next grocery run, try limiting your amount of processed food in your cart. Ideally, your cart should contain more natural proteins, healthy carbohydrates, and green, leafy vegetables.
If you’re worried about keeping them fresh and tasty, we understand that refrigeration might not always be the situation - you can try and vacuum seal your food, and remove the factor of bacteria growing inside and on the surface of your food, as vacuum sealing removes one of the key requirements for bacteria to grow on your food - oxygen.
So maybe next time when you go out and purchase whole foods, consider vacuum sealing them.

Mobility
Of course, you can’t just stay cooped up 24/7, 7 days a week inside your home. Your vehicle deserves some attention as well, and you need to take extra care of it even in times like these where they don’t see as much as they did before.
If there are no mechanics in your area, you can install an OBD2 diagnostic tool to check up on your vehicle every once in a while. Additionally, get a Tyre Pressure monitoring system as well, both of which are available here at Elinz.
Both are extremely easy to install and use, and you won’t have any issues at all given the quality of products here. This should allow you to stay mobile should you need to move or relocate, or if you just want your car healthy enough for you to go on your daily drives.
Remember to stay safe, connected & healthy, and shop from the safety of your home today with Elinz.
