It’s been a good past few weeks for plenty of us here in Australia as we’ve been doing well in the fight against COVID-19. While we’re seeing no new major upheavals or movements in the number of cases, it’s still important to take note of what you can do outdoors, what you can do to keep safe, and what still isn’t allowed these days.
It might seem like we’re being too careful, but that’s much better than not taking care at all.
So in this blog entry, we’re going to explore all the activities you can try out (with a few recommendations from us) without endangering yourself, your friends, or your family in this time of recovery.
Keep note that this will be in line with the guidelines set by the state of Victoria - so we assure you that you won’t have any issues whatsoever, all while keeping safe.
With that in mind, let’s get started!
Work - should you go?
The stance of the entire government remains the same - if you can work from home, you should work from home. There’s no question that going into a single space with a group of people carries with it a high risk of transmission, especially if you factor in that a lot of us spend upwards of 4-8 hours in a single workplace.
So if you can work from home and if your workplace allows you to do so, stay at home and keep safe.
We here at Elinz recognize though that there are some of us that can’t afford to stay home. Some of us work in essential industries and some work with industries that require physical attendance and strenuous work - like mechanics, carpenters - tradies, so to speak.
Of course, you’ll be interacting with people on a regular basis, and you’ll need protection.
If you have a need for protective equipment, do let us know here at Elinz; chat with one of our representatives or email us at sales@elinz.com.au so we can set up a deal for you (and your team) during this crucial time of recovery. Alternatively, you can view our Health & Wellness category for items such as surgical masks, N95 masks, or forehead thermometers.
Visiting friends and family members?
The official stance of the local government is that you should only do it if you absolutely need to - especially if you’re going to be visiting a family member that’s part of the biggest risk factor for COVID-19. So if you have a family member that’s older and or has an existing health condition, it’s best not to go and wait for further announcements from the government. Wondering who’s at the biggest risk for COVID-19? Visit the Australian Government’s Department of Health website for more info
Considering that there is still the factor of asymptomatic or healthy carriers, it’s best to err on the side of caution for now. If you can’t visit your friends or your family, there are tons of alternatives out there!
Jump on a video call! Get on Zoom or Skype on your computer and get in touch with the people that matter most to you. Zoom has some pretty fun backgrounds that you can try out and is free for the most part.
If you don’t have a webcam on your computer, you’re in luck - we’ve recently stocked up on webcams here at Elinz, which you can check out here. We have both 1080P and 720P variants, perfect for the everyday user or for those looking for a clearer option when it comes to webcams.
What about services that were restricted during COVID-19?
Plenty of services that weren’t available a few weeks ago are back in business; Restaurants, beauty salons & barber shops, even tattoo parlors are to be reopened on the 31st of May; albeit with some restrictions for safety.
For now, let’s all sit tight and wait for a wonderful Sunday as the shops reopen, but it’s also important to take some precautions and remain vigilant at this crucial stage of recovery.
On your way to the shops and to get that much-needed haircut or any of the services that were once suspended during the quarantine of the past few weeks, make sure that your lines of communication remain open to staying in touch with family, and that your vehicle is in top shape.
If you haven’t gone anywhere in the past few weeks, make sure that your vehicle is in top shape by stopping by your local mechanic; otherwise, you can get an OBD2 diagnostic tool that can be delivered straight to your doorstep here at Elinz.
Make sure that your tyres are in good shape as well with our Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems here at Elinz.
If you run any of the aforementioned businesses, it’s important to keep your workers protected; on top of the aforementioned masks, equipping your store with a thermometer to check your patron’s temperature before they come into your store is important. Get yours here today.
In closing
We urge everyone to stay safe and vigilant during this time. While restrictions are eased, it’s still important to stick to the rules, such as social distancing and observing proper quarantine rules. And as with all things right now, if you can stay at home, you must stay at home.
Remember to stay safe, and have a happy weekend!
