It’s another fine Friday today, and we're slowly but surely seeing better news day by day as cases for COVID-19 continue to lessen in Victoria and we’re seeing trends that seem to show that we’re in for recovery, even though there are still hundreds infected.
Let’s not be too hasty and make sure that we protect ourselves, our loved ones, and most importantly, our community by sticking to the rules of the quarantine and making sure that we’re sticking to the indoors no matter what happens.
When you’re out there, make sure that you’re keeping to yourself and staying safe. Sanitizing your hands before and after heading out of your vehicle & going to the stores is the best practice. Most importantly, we should make sure that we're all clean before entering our homes while coming home from a grocery run or an errand.
By protecting ourselves we protect the healthcare system, and it protects us right back.
We here at Elinz understand that these are tough times, and we'd like to help out. We’ve set up a partnership with the Salvation Army Australia - for every purchase of any reverse camera from our store, we’ll be donating $1 moving forward. It doesn’t matter how small the purchase may be - whether you’ll be purchasing a singular reverse camera to add to your existing system, or you’ll be buying a new system, we’ll make sure that a portion of your purchase goes on to help somebody in need.
If you’d like to do your part outside of your purchases, you can also visit the Salvation Army’s website to make a donation, or find out how you can help people in these dire and unprecedented times.
Since we’re on the topic of reverse cameras and safety while you’re out there, we’d like to bring you up to speed on some possible dangers that you might encounter while you’re out there, and how you can avoid it.
Here is a couple of tips on how you can stay safe whether you’re out doing groceries, errands, getting your car taken look at by a mechanic, or just general outdoor stuff that you need to take care of despite the quarantine.
Previously, masks were not mandatory anywhere in the AU despite active COVID-19 cases. But now that we’re in the second wave of the pandemic, you must absolutely wear a mask (not just because it’s been made mandatory by the law), but it’s been proven time and time again to protect against diseases spread through droplets with no detriments to health.
Make sure that your hands stay a good distance away from your face until you’ve made it home and you’ve washed it thoroughly. In fact, make sure to take a bath if you’ve been exposed to the outside world for an extended period.
When you’re out there, mind what you’re touching. Be mindful of high-touch surfaces such as door handles & counters - if you can avoid touching them directly with your hands, do so. If they swing inward/outward, then use your body or your elbows to open doors.
If you can’t avoid touching areas like these, imagine as if you’ve got COVID-19 already on your hands and avoid spreading it further. Sanitize as often as possible. Some might deem it obsessive, but if you’re protecting yourself from a worldwide pandemic (and protecting others, in turn), then these small measures will make a world of difference.

It’s easy to drive distracted these days, as there is bound to be less traffic everywhere in Victoria while everyone is staying indoors. Thinking that driving lax and swervy is dangerous, as there could be other drivers out there thinking the same thing, albeit at higher speeds.
That makes for quite a dangerous trip, no matter how short it may be.
Here are some tips to keep your attention on the road:
Get plenty of rest before driving. In general, keeping to a tight schedule of sleep and waking helps our bodies not only build stronger immune systems, but it also keeps our attention sharp - which is something that you’ll need while driving.
Keep both hands on the wheel at all times. Besides the obvious deterrent of a fine with fiddling your phone or any other gadget while you’re driving, it’s better to keep both hands on the wheel while driving to keep your focus.
Remind yourself that driving is never a passive action. Since there are lesser cars on the road, it might be easier to think that it’s okay to drive passively and act like there’s no one else there, but make sure that you’re still driving defensively at all times, to and from the stores to get the essentials.
Reverse carefully. You’ll be parking and reversing a lot these days, so you’ll need all the help you can get. A car’s blind spot is massive, so you’ll need all the visibility you can get to be able to reverse carefully and accurately. Consider getting yourself a reverse camera.
Products from our store that can help: You can get a dash cam to keep a log of your trips, and a reverse camera that can give you visibility where there was once none. Follow the links to get yours from Elinz today.
Stay away from people when you’re outdoors, and try to minimize contact as much as possible. Don’t be afraid to call people out that aren’t keeping their distance - you’re just trying to be safe and you’re also keeping the other person safe by doing so.
Washing hands, wearing a mask, and maintaining social distancing are the three rules that need to be followed to the letter these days, and we shouldn’t be afraid to call other people out when we need to.
