These might be terrifying times we’re living in, but that doesn’t mean we'll have to live in abject terror. COVID-19 is definitely a dangerous disease, true, but there are some things that you can do to help keep the virus away from your home.
Incorporating some of our products for home and cars, here are some top tips that we’d like to share with you on how you can protect your home from COVID-19.
First things first…
The guidelines set by WHO and our local government provide the best guidance that we need during this pandemic, namely: Social distancing, practicing good hygiene especially with your hands, and observing the quarantine/self-isolation.
Nothing beats quarantining to make sure that you and your family don’t get the coronavirus. By lessening your contact with other people from the outside, you’re drastically reducing your chances of catching the virus.
If you work in the healthcare and other essential (such as food, groceries, delivery) industries and cannot observe quarantine rules for your job, it’s a good idea to protect yourself even further; wear a mask, if your workplace hasn’t provided one for you yet (chances are, if you’re reading this from work you’re probably wearing one that has already been provided for you by your workplace!).

But back to the matter at hand: nothing beats self-isolation whether you’re showing symptoms or not; acting like we all have COVID-19 already does wonders for flattening the curve and eventually beating this pandemic.
Social distancing
This is perhaps as important as self-isolation. COVID-19 spreads through droplets, and the distance it travels is at 1.5m. By maintaining this distance at all times between people, we can also effectively control its spread.
But it’s a little hard to eyeball distances, isn’t it?
Here’s a quick tip: imagine a person laying in between you and another person; as long as you keep that distance, you should be safe. Another trick that we like to use at work is maintaining half a car’s distance from each other- that’s usually around 1.7 - 2m, and that’s enough distance to make sure that you’re safe should that other person cough or sneeze.
Of course, it’s also important to protect yourself, so if you expect to be in an area with 3 or more people, it doesn't hurt at all to bring some protection in the form of a mask. It’s also important to avoid crowds or gatherings! With more people in a given room, the more the chances that someone might already be infected, and the more chances rise that some other people might get infected as well.
Keeping good hygiene
While we’re all in quarantine, it’s easy to forget that we all have to take baths and keep ourselves clean; we don’t have to go anywhere else, after all!
But besides taking baths and going through our daily routine, washing hands is now even more important. Covering all parts of your hand, you can sing along and wash for 20 seconds to make sure that you’ve thoroughly cleansed your hands.
Remember that the coronavirus lives on surfaces for hours, sometimes even for days; assuming like everything you’ve touched outdoors is infected is a good way to make sure that you don’t get infected.
And keeping good hygiene isn’t just limited to washing your hands and taking frequent baths; this also means that you should refrain from touching your face. Since your hands might be carrying contaminants, you certainly wouldn’t want that anywhere near your nose and your mouth.
Some additional tips that we recommend
It’s important to keep an eye on your home these days. Even in quarantine, anything can happen; having something to trace your steps back with, or to simply just keep watch over your property. You’ve got a couple of options if you’d like to do so:
Security cameras were valuable even before COVID-19 hit; now they’re even more important. Granted that there is less traffic around the areas that we live and work in, anything can happen. Additionally, knowing who has come in contact with you, or who has come into your home (or has had contact with it) is very important during these times.
It doesn’t hurt to be prepared and security cameras can help give you that extra layer of security these days.
Dash cams might be the last on your list, but think about this: even on a grocery run, your car comes into contact with so many different things. When you leave it in the parking lot, you don’t know what’s happening with it; keeping a dash camera with a motion-sensing feature helps a lot with that. Here’s our recommendation for one that you might want to install in your car.
