It's no secret that Australia is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It's home to thousands of different species of flora and fauna, dotted with a wonderful landscape, contrasting between arid rocky crags, beautiful, verdant plant life and wonderful cities like Sydney.
And let's not forget- the beaches. Australia's shorelines are to die for. Massive waves crashing against the bluest water you can find, meeting a shoreline of pristine sand; it'd be a sin not to visit and see it for yourself.
If you do find yourself in Australia one of these days, it would be a shame not to document your travels with a camera, even just for a little bit. Even if you're a native, I'm sure that there's still so much that you can explore in The Land Down Under.
Here are some of our recommendations on the most picturesque spots to feast your eyeballs (and cameras, whether action or dash cams) in lovely Australia:
The Gold Coast. Earlier, we just mentioned the beautiful beaches of Australia, and this may have been inspired by the wonder of the Gold Coast. The area is your go-to for any of your adventures that involve surf and sand and is a great place to take your camera (and surfboard) to. For those more adventure-minded, take your board and your action camera, and surf away to your heart’s content at Surfers Paradise.
The afternoon to early evening is one of the best times to take some marvelous pictures, just when the setting sun colors everything in warm orange and waves lapping up and down the shore. Truly a memorable and wonderful place to document your beach-side adventures.
If you'd like to take it a little slower and bask in the wondrous wildlife of Australia, do not miss out on Hamilton Island. Located in Queensland, it's home to Hamilton Wildlife and Catseye Beach, both of which would make for breathtaking pictures and videos.
Another noteworthy area in Queensland is Hervey Bay, an area in Queensland famous for numerous whales frequenting the waters of its lovely coast. Hop on a tour and pull your cameras out- you're sure to see a whale or two while you're out there!
To close out your Queensland escapade, swing by Brisbane and marvel at the merging of modern architecture and nature. If you're passing by on a car, slap on a dash cam and pass by Story Bridge. With a wide-angle dash camera, you should be able to capture the city, Brisbane River, and the wonderful bridge in one video. If you have a 4k dash cam that captures in 60 FPS, this is a perfect opportunity to test it out.
If you're more a hiker/trekker, swing by Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. It's rocky crags and wonderful views will always be a worthwhile trek, and the heights of the mountain offer a spectacular view of the Lake St. Clair- perfect for all you shutterbugs out there.
The Great Otway National Park is not to be missed, especially for those that love nature trekking. Besides the wonderful melding of mountains and flora, you'll get to see a large number of waterfalls, dotting the landscape and making for great memories that you can capture with a camera.
The King's Park Botanics Garden and Swan Valley are excellent destinations in Perth, WA and should not be missed. These areas should make for wonderful videos and pictures, not to mention they're just downright beautiful. It's the perfect destination for those looking to just take it easy and slow after all the rollicking fun we've mentioned earlier.
Let’s swing back to Victoria. There’s a massive road in there that’s just waiting to be taken in, both with your eyes and cameras. The Great Ocean Road is a wonderful coastline drive that’s perfect to capture with a dash cam and is an incredibly pleasant drive for any motoring enthusiasts that are looking to test their cars and camera equipment both.
It’s 243 kilometers long, and starts from Torquay to Allansford- make sure to prepare accordingly and make sure that your vehicle is in top shape before attempting it. Get a spacious SD card/storage device as well for your capture device- you wouldn’t want to miss a single detail when you’re out there. Nevertheless, it should make for one of the most beautiful drives of your life and capturing it in video makes for great footage for whatever purpose.
If you’ve got a little more time on your hands, just driving around outside Sydney is an excellent experience. If you’ve got at least 3 days and you’re looking to get some excellent coastal footage for your travel journals, drive to Melbourne from Sydney and soak in the beauty of the ocean and the coastline.
If the call of adventure is a lot stronger, and you have tons of time or if you’re working remotely enough to be away for long amounts of time, then The Great Lap is one of the longest and grueling journeys ever, yet one of the most beautiful experiences you will ever have in your life.
Capture a few hours of The Great Lap in video, cut and paste the footage, edit it a little and you’ve got yourself an amazing account of (possibly) the greatest journey of your life. Again, to call it long is quite an understatement -it spans the entirety of the country so make sure to prepare accordingly with both your vehicle and your dash/action cam.
The Great Alpine Road should also be a nice change of pace for all motorists out there. Located in Victoria, it’s cooler and should make for a more chill and pleasant ride. Note, however, that this is in colder climes most of the time in any given year, and make sure to dress accordingly.
If you plan on going on these adventures soon, don’t miss out on great action camera and dash cam deals (including 4k dash cams!) here at Elinz so you can document these lovely sights in Australia.
