Today, there has been some news that the government will be considering some plans for recovery, slowly lifting some lockdown restrictions over the next few weeks.
If you’ve been itching to go out for quite some time or if you’ve had a trip that was cancelled at the last minute before the start of the lockdowns, this might be a good time to prepare!
Here are some important points that we recommend here at Elinz, incorporating some of our core products to ensure your safety, on top of making your upcoming trips as smooth as possible:
Make sure that your car is in top shape
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again- it’s important to keep your car in good running condition at all times. It’s important now during this quarantine period, and its also incredibly important after the quarantine period for when travelling isn’t going to be as restricted as before.
Now it’s important to make sure that you don’t get stuck out there while going on a supply run; after the lockdowns are lifted, you certainly don’t want another thing getting in the way of your road trip, do you?
To make sure that your vehicle is working fine, try and use these gadgets to make sure that your car is in good running condition:
Install a TPMS device on your vehicle’s tyres. A TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) helps by letting you know exactly how your tyres are. It provides a digital readout of your tyre’s pressure, making sure that you have a good idea when to have it inflated, or when to release a bit of pressure to ensure a safe and comfortable ride.

Run an OBDII scan on your vehicle. OBD2 scanners are diagnostic tools that connect to your vehicle’s computer and run a diagnostic if there are any issues with your vehicle. It will export codes that correspond to a specific issue in your vehicle, which you can follow up with a local mechanic. If you have the mechanical know-how, you can try your hand on it as you won’t have to worry about doing any guess-work before attempting a repair or a tune up.

Make sure that you have a GPS tracker on your vehicle as well- whether you’ve forgotten where you put your car on park, or you’re just trying to get your vehicle located when you’re out on a trip, GPS tracking is useful to have and adds an extra layer of security when you’re driving.
Plenty of our OBD2 and TPMS tools already come with GPS tracking, so be sure to keep an eye out on our online store from the links above.
Safety through visibility with dash cams and reverse cameras
If you’re going on a trip after the lockdown with wider, larger vehicles such as caravan trailers or trucks, we highly recommend investing in better visibility that’s afforded by dash cams and reverse cameras.
Even if you were driving a regular sedan, this additional visibility is still important. Reverse cameras help with that exactly, as there is a massive blind spot situated behind your vehicle. Rear view mirrors only show the top part of your vehicle, and the immediate area behind your trunk is at risk.
It’s a space where any child or animal can run into, or it could be an area where a concrete or metal barrier could be - a fire hydrant could actually be behind your vehicle and if you were reversing into it, you wouldn’t even notice it at all!
Not everything can be seen from a rear view mirror, unfortunately.
Not only is it a financial problem if you were to run into something, but it’s a potential problem with the law and in some cases, your health- meanwhile, a reverse camera takes less than an hour to install on average, and is usually not that expensive at all (with different options for functionality, should you prefer something a little simpler, smaller or a lot less expensive than the big ones).
We have different reverse cameras available for you here at Elinz - please feel free to check which ones would be a perfect fit for your vehicle!
Don’t forget that dash cams are important as well; whereas reverse cameras cover your rear, dash cams act as a silent witness for your driving. A lot of things can happen out there, even if you do have excellent visibility.
Traffic disputes, accidents or incidents that happen between drivers, or just general every day stuff are captured by dash cams reliably. If you want to keep track of who your passengers are day in day out (which is even more important for those that run ride-sharing businesses such as Uber), having a dash cam is paramount.

Protection against COVID-19
Even though the lockdowns might be lifted in about 2 months, resurgence of the virus remains to be a possible scenario; and we’re not being pessimistic here; it’s a possibility in the future if we become careless!
While the government’s stance is adamant about not wearing masks when you’re not sick, it does work and helps keep out particles that may be in the air, or if you’re sick, you’re keeping it in and infecting no one else. which facemasks can help with!
If you would like to protect yourself and your family even further during and even after this quarantine, get your face masks here today at Elinz, available with both surgical and N95 coronavirus face masks.
If you're reopening your business soon or you'll be back at work within a month, it's important that everyone gets tested and that you're not exhibiting any symptoms before going back to work; its important to keep your distance socially and be on the lookout for any kind of symptoms. Let’s all hope for a brighter tomorrow - things are looking a little bit more better everyday, and we hope it continues and we see out there on the road and your trips, safe and sound!
