Contrary to popular belief, security cameras aren’t always bulky and ugly. And they’re not always that hard to install!
If you thought that security cameras are hard to install, unwieldy and generally just clash with the overall look of your home, you’d be pleasantly surprised to find out that there are new security cameras that are easy to install, easy to place and can be quite discreet, sleek and stylish.
We’re talking about IP or Internet Protocol security cameras.
While IP cameras can look quite like CCTV security cameras and function like so, there are standalone security cameras that you can use at home, or even in your business without needing too much technical assistance or knowledge.
Not too mention, IP cameras are also usually sleek and aesthetic enough if you care a lot for the look of your home or your business’ interiors.
Here are some reasons why you should choose an IP security camera:
IP cameras are usually very affordable compared to CCTVs.
CCTV security camera kits use 2 major components: the cameras, and the DVR hub which saves all the video that the cameras take. When hooked up to a monitor, you can then see what the security cameras see.
Standalone IP security cameras on the other hand only have one - the camera itself, which contains everything that it needs within its interior. It does, however, need to have an SD card to make sure that you have a storage space to put all the footage in.
As a result, IP cameras are more affordable, as you don’t need to buy so many different parts to make it run. Additionally, if you don’t have the technical knowledge or know-how, you’ll probably need to hire somebody else to get a CCTV installed (which obviously costs money), which isn’t a problem with IP cameras.
IP cameras fit small homes and businesses very well.
If your property is on the smaller side, an IP security camera is perfect. Set it down on a surface, plug it on and you should be good to go!
These security cameras are perfect for apartments and houses that are on the smaller side, or for more open areas such as studio set-ups. If you have a single floor bungalow, a couple of these instead of a four-camera CCTV setup should do wonders for securing your home without breaking the bank.
Some businesses have small venues for doing business as well, such as small restaurants or food court stalls, or a single room, for example, for some real estate offices. These are great areas to install an IP security camera on, and you shouldn’t have a problem keeping an eye on a small piece of property with just one or two IP cameras.
IP cameras are very, very easy to install.
As mentioned, IP cameras are very much plug and play - sometimes, they don’t even need to be plugged on to an outlet! Some of our IP cameras have large internal batteries that you just need to turn on right out of the box, and it’ll start recording!
Granted, it can be quite confusing to set up the WiFi sync on IP cameras, but if you don’t need to view the IP camera from an external device (such as your iPhone), then you don’t need to worry about doing that.
Just set it down, turn it on, and you’re good to go.
IP cameras have an interesting suite of features rarely seen in CCTV setups.
CCTV security camera setups have come a long way, and they do have some interesting features such as motion sensing and internet connection. But standalone IP cameras stand out from the rest by perfect integration with a suite of features including, but not limited to:
Motion sensing, enough to prompt the camera to turn on and off. If you set up your IP camera such as this, it could even last for an entire year without having to be recharged! Think we’re exaggerating? Check out this review from Snapfeed testing IPCAMBATTERY security camera out.
Complete WiFi integration. Have your videos saved on the cloud, review it, or delete it using a mobile device. Standalone IP cameras have partner apps to help manage footage. It's incredibly useful for bringing out the full range of what IP cameras have to offer.
Intercom system. While that is not true for all IP cameras, these are certainly included in plenty of our other IP cameras. This feature can be used as long as a working internet connection is present on both ends.
