Why do you need a reversing camera?
So you say that you’ve got reversing down to a T, and you don’t need a reversing camera. We’ve seen all the techniques, like:
The hand over the headrest
The head peeking out of the window
The good old side view mirror peek
And these are all solid techniques that you might have used for years without any incident- we don’t judge.
But according to the NRSPP, 12.3% of all accidents are related to reversing. That’s even more than the number of drivers caught in accidents because their cars suddenly lost control and started careening off into other objects, people or vehicles (which is 11.1%). Worse yet, these are controllable factors- something where the driver could have taken precautions against, compared to a sudden freak accident related to the sudden vehicular failure.
Poor visibility and miscalculation are often the main causes for accidents when reversing, and this is tough to make out from the driver’s seat, especially since you’re looking at it from a fixed point and having to swivel your head from there.
Rearview mirrors have their use but remember- some of them even come with a warning: objects may be closer than they appear.
Luckily there’s technology out there to help you reverse in complete ease and safety, avoiding critical (not to mention extremely expensive) mistakes out on the road- reversing cameras.
What kind of reversing camera do you need?
Let’s get you sorted out and have you reversing safely in no time. First, let’s figure out the best reversing camera kit by your vehicle type.
Wiring and installation
Now comes the complex part- but we have you covered here at Elinz. Here are some guides on how to install a reverse camera, and reverse camera wiring guides. All purchases come with a user manual, covering a-z when it comes to installing them.
If you somehow lose your manual with the purchase, you can download them here.
If you own a caravan trailer, here’s an excellent guide from our blog on how to do reverse camera wiring on these big boys.
These all connect to a reversing camera monitor that we also offer which caters to all different types of vehicles and reversing cameras and their respective systems. If you prefer a wireless system, some of our cameras and monitors offer this functionality as well!
Stay safe out there on the road, and get a reversing camera for all your vehicles today!
