Why You Should Have a TPMS for Your Vehicle
Tyres. We see them everyday out on the road, and we use them everyday to get to wherever we need to be, but we barely take notice of them until something’s wrong with them. They are one of the most important parts of your vehicle, and should always be checked before setting out on the road.
Most of us check it the old-fashioned way (which can be a bit unreliable), and this definitely doesn’t give you an exact figure of what’s your tyre’s actual status. As a driver, this is one habit that you need to change to get the best out of your vehicle and most importantly, keep your passengers safe.
But some of us can be quite forgetful, and accidents can happen on the road that can suddenly puncture our tyres. It’s not unknown for some people to keep on driving, completely unaware that their tires are slowly deflating, or that it’s been punctured! This is dangerous, and needs to be addressed immediately.
Safety should be every driver’s #1 concern, and for this reason you should always have a TPMS (or a tyre pressure monitoring system) installed in your vehicle.
What’s the use of having a TPMS?
A tyre pressure monitoring system is an absolute must-have for when travelling long distances. Whether going on a camping trip, a long drive or just the daily drive to work, you and your passenger’s safety should be your top priority. Not only that, but having the pressure on your tyres monitored regularly saves you the hassle of having to change tires in the middle of the road or having to call on someone to bring you some spare tyres.
With a TPMS, you’re eliminating any guesswork that most drivers often do with their tyres. Stop knocking, hitting it with your feet, or trying any other outlandish method to check your tyre’s pressure; the TPMS can do that perfectly.
A TPMS also notifies you ahead of time if your tyres are getting low on air, or if it’s deflating. Not only can this knowledge helps keep you safe out there, but it also helps you save up on gas. Most people don’t get proper mileage for their gas; even statistics point out that 10% of gas is wasted on running a vehicle on drag with under-inflated tyres.
More importantly, TPMS helps prevent accidents out on the road. A tyre that is under-inflated or is suddenly deflated can cause major problems, and a car could careen out of control if it suddenly deflates or pops. You certainly don’t want that happening.
By keeping an eye on your tyre’s pressure level, you’re keeping yourself, your passengers, pedestrians and fellow motorists on the road safe. Considering that a huge percentage of accidents annually are tyre-related incidents, a small investment in a reliable TPMS could spell the difference between safety and tragedy.
