Hello there! It’s been quite some time since we’ve all been set up at home, and we hope that you’re all doing well despite everything that’s been going on these days. For a lot of us, we’re all keeping safe by working at home, keeping to ourselves and sticking to quarantine rules set in place by the local government.
Recently, there’s been a new surge in COVID-19 cases in Victoria. Some local government officials confirm that 80% of these new infections come from workplaces - which is no surprise, as workplaces require people to stay in one area for an extended period of time.
If your workplace has deemed it necessary for you to work from home, for now, it would be best to do so. After all, if you can stay at home, then you must stay at home.
If you’re just about to set up your work from home station, here are some tips to help you out and get you started.
Get up early!
It’s tempting to keep hitting the snooze button right up until the last minute before work, but getting up well before your actual appointed time of work is the best way to go these days. Without a morning ritual, you’ll be stuck in a loop of non-productivity, and you’ll feel like you’re not going to get any actual work done.
Get up early, take a bath, and go through your morning ritual. Just because you don’t need to get dressed up for work doesn’t mean you should just go straight from the bed to work!
Eat healthily!
Like what we said with our earlier blog entries, it’s easy to turn to junk food these days and not eat healthy because of the circumstances. It’s quite the opposite, though - now is the most important time to eat healthier. Your body needs all the help it can get to stay healthy and alert at work, and you can do that through better nutrition. Here are some quick and easy tips to do that:
Eat whole foods. When we say whole, we mean natural foods that haven’t been processed.
Have more protein and fibre on your plate. Eggs, chicken, and the occasional red meat is good, but if you’re on a vegan diet, you can also grab your protein from beans, soy, and spinach.
Control your portions. Sticking to a diet is even more important now to keep your weight down. It keeps your body and immune system stronger.
Label your meals. This helps you keep to a diet, especially if you label all your meals. For those looking to lose weight, this is a great way to get started.
Make sure your food is fresh. Refrigerating is a quick and easy way to keep your food fresh; but if you’d like to take it one step further and keep your food fresher than ever (on top of avoiding freezer burn or loss of flavor due to the cold), you can try vacuum sealing your food.
Looking for an all in one tool to help out with eating healthy? Here are our food vacuum sealers here at Elinz, available at prices that won’t break the bank.
Looking for a webcam?
Not all of us have laptops that have built-in webcams. If you’re using one that doesn’t have a webcam or if you’re going to work from a PC, it’s important to have a webcam in this day and age as you’ll need all the connectivity you can get if you’re working from home.
For important meetings where you need to have that special face to face interaction to smooth things over, a webcam will be immensely helpful.
We’ve got a couple of webcams available here at Elinz, based on the resolution you’ll be needing while working: A 1080P webcam for those that are looking for higher resolution when they go online, and a 720P webcam that does the job as well!
Looking for webcams? Here are two of our webcams with a price that just can’t be beaten anywhere in AU.
Power outages? No problem!
When you’re at work, there’s nothing more irritating (and problematic) than power outages. While they’re few and far between, it’s best to stay prepared. And with working from home, you’ll need to keep your electronics powered and running. You’ve got a couple of options here at Elinz:
Powerbanks. Our powerbanks from Maxxlee are excellent sources of power for when outages happen, ranging from low capacities for those that are simply in need of backups, or massive 20000 mAh capacity powerbanks, great for powering a wide range of handheld devices.
If you’re worried about powering devices that have higher wattages, we’ve also got powerbanks that have 18w - enough to power up even smaller notebooks just to keep your work going.
Inverters. In the middle of a power outage and if you’re working on an important task that just can’t be delayed, turn to your car’s battery - there’s a lot of energy there to keep your devices powered up!
But your car runs on DC energy; you’ll need to have that inverted to AC energy for use with your gadgets. That’s where an inverter comes in handy; by converting DC energy to AC, you can plug up your most needed gadgets, such as your laptop, your phone, and even your television or your desktop computer!
